This evening, while attempting upgrade the Firmware and bootROM of my Polycom IP 650 I noticed something extremely curious... In the sip.cfg there are config vaiables for an IP 7000.

Strange! I instantly started checking older versions of the file for IP_7000 - No Luck!

My guess is that they have added the config variable to the software before the conference room phone hits the streets... The IP 7000 - Listed as IP_7000 just below the variables for the IP_4000.

Hopefully this is an HD Voice phone. If this is in fact the case than I am sure it will be listed here at a competitive price.

I noticed the thing about the IP7000 too and went looking for more info about it which led me here. No doubt it will support their wideband "HD voice" but probably also it will have a larger screen which is a serious shortcoming on the current IP 4000 (which lags behind Polycom's analog conference phones a good deal)

There is also a curious note that they have "Added support for backlit expansion modules" to match the 650 (which looks pretty lousy with the current non-backlit sidecars. The plastic case color doesn't quite match either.

Hopefully the updated expansion modules will be a little less clunky. They are too big and bulky in the current design.

The only feature Polycom REALLY needs though is to support a bluetooth adaptor on the 550/650's USB port so people can use wireless headsets already. This is such a no-brainer its silly.
